Today is the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita – a Sudanese girl – who was sold into slavery in Italy in the nineteenth century.
As part of the Santa Marta Group – founded by Pope Francis – Bishop Brennan is in the Vatican today – where the issue of slavery in today’s world is being addressed.
