To mark Easter Sunday – and in an act of solidarity with the people of the Diocese as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ – Bishop Brennan has invited the parishes of the Diocese of Ferns to ring their church bells at 12 noon on Easter Sunday.

Commenting on the invitation, Bishop Brennan said that “ringing the bells in our churches at 12 noon on Easter Sunday offers us the chance to reflect together on the need for hope and faith at this difficult moment in our history; to stand together with one another in solidarity; and to give thanks for the great heroism shown in our hospitals and local communities at this time of need and heightened anxiety.”

The people of the Diocese are invited to join this moment of reflection and hope from their homes, to ask protection as the resurrection of Christ is celebrated;  and to give thanks for the many  who are generously and heroically responding within our hospitals and local communities.

The invitation has been sent to all of the parishes of the diocese.

The invitation in Ferns is one that has been issued in many other dioceses in Ireland by local bishops.
