Trócaire

Trócaire will be in touch with priests this coming week with regard to Trócaire box returns from this year’s Lenten appeal.

Speaking ahead of the communication – local Trócaire representative Fr. John Carroll said – “It is estimated that c.4.5m to 5m euros remains in Trócaire boxes in homes in Ireland at present.”

A national campaign to return the box to parishes on the weekend of Pentecost Sunday (31st MAY) has been agreed by the four Irish metropolitan Archbishops.

Encouraging people to return the boxes, Fr. Carroll said that “the Lenten monies are urgently needed by Trócaire at present to respond to people who are facing the catastrophic effects of COVID 19, in addition to hunger, conflict and poverty.”

Trócaire will make contact with parishes directly.
