Baptism – Welcoming Your Child into God’s Family
Congratulations on the beautiful gift of your child’s life! Baptism is a joyful and sacred moment when your little one is welcomed into the loving family of God and the community of the Church.
In baptism, we celebrate new life – not only the precious life you have been given in your son or daughter, but the new spiritual life that comes through God’s grace. Through the waters of baptism, your child is cleansed, strengthened and marked forever as belonging to Christ.
This resource, “Celebrating Your Child’s Baptism“, has been prepared to help you understand the meaning and symbols of this special sacrament. It explains the ceremony and offers simple reflections you can treasure as a family.
We also hope this “Baptism Booklet” for the ceremony will illustrate the sacrament whilst also becoming a wonderful keepsake for parents. There will also be a simpler handout outlining the “Rite of Baptism” that can be used in the Church to help people participate in the ceremony.
May your child’s baptism be a day filled with God’s peace and blessing. May the faith planted today continue to grow and bear fruit throughout their life, as they walk in the light of Christ, supported by your love and the prayers of the whole Church.
