From 3.00pm on Sunday, 13 September, the celebration of the Installation Mass will be livestreamed via the Cathedral’s webcam

Details of the Mass
Up to one thousand people are expected to attend this Mass of Installation for the new Bishop of Ossory.  The choir is a Diocesan Choir with members from the parishes of Ossory.  It will be accompanied by local musicians and all are under the direction of Mr Sean O’Neill and Ms Joy Bibby – musical directors of the Cathedral Parish.
 
The Master of Ceremony will be Father Roderick Whearty, Parish Priest of Ferrybank and Slieverue parishes.  Altar servers from the Cathedral Parish will assist at the Mass – Bernice, Sarah, Donnacha, Niamh and Raphael. 
 
Bishop Nash will be greeted the door of the Cathedral by: Ms Sarah Rice, Chairperson of the Ossory Diocesan Pastoral Council;  Ms Gemma Mulligan, Coordinator of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan and Director of the Lay Ministry Programme in Ossory; Father Dermot Ryan, Administrator of the Cathedral Parish; and, Father Larry Wallace, senior member of the College of Consultors. 
 
The Mass will be Irish Sign Language interpreted by Raphael Greene and Susan Cave, Irish Sign Language interpreters.
 
People from parishes and pastoral areas from around the Diocese will lead the Prayer of the Faithful and the Readings of the Mass, along with Bishop Nash’s family, sisters Teresa and Mags.
 
Father Willie Dalton, as Chancellor, will read the Papal Bull and present it to the College of Consultors and to all of the people who have gathered in person for this joyous occasion. 
 
During the Mass, a crozier that will be presented to Bishop Nash by his predecessor Bishop Niall Coll, now the Bishop of Raphoe.  Significantly, this crozier is the same one used by Bishop Edward Walsh during the original Dedication of the Cathedral on 4 October 1857, exactly 168 years ago.
 
Another former Bishop of Ossory, Archbishop Dermot Farrell, now Archbishop of Dublin, will lead the Installation ceremony for Bishop Nash, who will serve as the principal celebrant and homilist for the Mass. This installation liturgy will also mark the moment when the Diocese of Ossory and the Diocese of Ferns are united “in persona episcopi” – in the person of the Bishop.
